Dance II is designed to build upon the skills developed in Dance I, advancing dancers' abilities in various dance techniques and styles. Students will be expected to perform intermediate dance techniques, evaluate their performances, and enhance their skills in choreography. This class aims to enrich students' capabilities, allowing them to perform at a higher level. It will promote an awareness of performance art and help students develop their own artistic voices through the skills they learn and showcase throughout the year. Evaluation will be based on performances, both in and out of school, as well as critiques and written assignments.

DANCE I

Dance I focuses on developing a dancer's skills in various techniques and styles. Students will learn and perform basic techniques in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, while also enhancing their strength, flexibility, and coordination. In addition to practical skills, dancers will familiarize themselves with fundamental terminology commonly used in the dance world and study key dance historians who have significantly influenced the art form as we know it today. This class aims to enrich students' education at a higher level by fostering an awareness of performance art and helping them develop their own artistic voice through the skills acquired and practiced throughout the year. Evaluations will be based on performances, critiques, tests, quizzes, and written assignments.
If a student has had previous dance experience and/or is currently studying dance at a private school, she/he can request a higher skill level class by audition with the teacher.

Dance III is designed to further develop dancers' skills at an intermediate to advanced level in various dance techniques and styles. Students will work on performing intermediate to advanced techniques in ballet, jazz, and modern dance while cultivating their own artistic voices and skills in choreography. In addition, dancers will learn more terminology related to dance, as well as the history of dance from different eras that have shaped the art form as we know it today. This class aims to enhance students' education at a higher level, preparing them for higher education or the professional dance arena. Evaluation will be based on performance both in and out of school, critiques, tests and quizzes, as well as written assignments.

DANCE IV – Honors

Dance IV is intended for students who are genuinely interested in advancing their dance skills at an advanced level, focusing on various techniques and styles. Dancers will be expected to demonstrate their proficiency in ballet, jazz, and modern dance while developing their unique artistic voices and skills in choreography and costuming. In this class, students will expand their understanding of the dance terminology introduced in Dance 3, which is used globally across all dance forms. Additionally, the course offers an overview of significant social dances throughout history that have shaped the evolution of dance as we know it today. Overall, this class aims to enrich students' education at a higher level, preparing them for higher education or professional opportunities in the dance world. Evaluation will be conducted through mandatory rehearsals and performances, both inside and outside of school, as well as video critiques, tests/quizzes, and written assignments.

DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY – Honors

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Dance II or teacher recommendation. Must be currently enrolled in Dance III or IV.
This course is designed for students who want to have fun while developing their dance choreography skills. In this class, you will learn to perform and create dance styles including street jazz, jazz funk, hip hop, and contemporary dance. Additionally, students will develop their own unique movement styles based on the skills they acquire and will have the opportunity to create dances for various performances throughout the year.
